Python Installation on Windows ~On the fly tutorials

Python installation is very straight forward on windows , just go to http://www.python.org/download/

and download the installer , I would recommend Version 2.7 for learning purposes , but its up to you , both v2.7 and v3.1 are fully supported my the python community .

The standard windows download is a MSI file and its very easy to install .

I would recommend you enable the option to compile all the .py scripts to bytecode , it would be under Advanced Options .

After the installation you should be able to execute the .py scripts like an exe file .

but in case you cant , follow these steps

#Open Command prompt (start>run>type cmd )

#Type set path=<Path to the python installation folder>

#Navigate to where you Python scripts are located in command prompt .

#Type python <script name >.py to execute it

# alternatively you can type just python to open the interactive shell .

# The interactive shell can be closed by pressing Ctrl+Z and then pressing Enter

So here is my Hello World Python script

################################

#        HelloWorld.py         #

################################

print 'Hello World'

raw_input()

this script just prints Hello World and waits for the user to press a key and then exits .
